France’s Memories Of A Dead Man have been seeking a perfect and genuine balance between a melancholic, emotive atmosphere and a crushing, oppressive heaviness since their inception in 2006. And if their second album “V.I.T.R.I.O.L.” released in early 2012 was pretty close of achieving that symbiosis, the new album “Ashes Of Joy” surely represents their finest and most accomplished effort in this regard. Memories Of A Dead have evolved immeasurably during these last two years and “Ashes of Joy” is unquestionably their most mature and challenging work to date, filled with moments of vulnerability and fragile emotiveness that contrast perfectly against crushing, heavy riffs that bring out emotions ranging from fury and frustration.
